Why a post or video generation might fail

The most common reasons a Clicky Vicky generation fails, and what to do about it.

If a generation didn't come out, here's what actually went wrong in plain English, and what to do about it.

How often does this actually happen?

Around 97 to 98 out of every 100 Clicky Vicky generations complete successfully. Failures are uncommon, and when one does happen, it's very rarely something you did wrong.

Do I lose my credits if a generation fails?

Almost always, no. Failed generations are refunded automatically, you don't need to ask. See What happens to credits when a generation fails for exactly how that works, and what to do if a charge doesn't come back.

What are the most common reasons a generation fails?

Two things account for most failures:

  • The model couldn't produce a result, it ran but declined to return anything

  • The content filter blocked it, the prompt or the imagery tripped the model's safety check

Less common causes include an unclear or unsupported combination of prompt and reference images, a reference image that couldn't be read, the generation timing out after running too long, or a setting like resolution or aspect ratio being outside what's allowed.

What does the error message on my screen actually mean?

Clicky Vicky shows you a plain-language message when something goes wrong. Here's what each one means, and what to do:

  • "The model couldn't produce this one, it likely declined the prompt." Try simplifying it, this usually happens with a lot of on-image text, an unsupported language, or borderline subject matter.

  • "This was blocked by the content filter." Try different wording or imagery. Retrying the exact same prompt won't get a different result.

  • "Couldn't load the reference image, its link wasn't reachable." Re-upload the image and try again, making sure it's at least 300x300 pixels, under 10 MB, a JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP file, and has an aspect ratio between 0.4 and 2.5.

  • "The image service had a temporary problem." Just try again, this usually clears on its own.

  • "The generation timed out." Just try again.

  • "Not enough credits for this generation." Check your balance in Settings, then Billing.

Does the model I pick make a difference?

Yes, quite a lot. Seedance 2.0 is blocked by the content filter far more often than Clicky Vicky's other models, roughly one attempt in four. This isn't a sign you're doing anything wrong, Seedance is simply stricter, and rewording the prompt won't always help. Nano Banana 2 is the most reliable choice if you want to avoid this, especially for image generation. See How to write better prompts and choose the right model for the full breakdown of each model.
